Levi's LVC S501XX WWII Model SAMPLE Prototype

S501XX WWII Model SAMPLE (prototype) individual.

This is believed to be a verification sample made before the product was commercialized, and some details differ from the reproduction sold normally.

Based on the WWII details from around 1944-47, it features a mix of details such as laurel wreath buttons, donut buttons, crotch rivets, V-stitch, and hidden rivets.

The selvedge is pink thread, and the hem is chain-stitched.
There are also simplifications typical of the WWII model, such as a single stitch on the upper waist and the omission of the crotch bar tack, reflecting the material controls of the time.

The tag has "SAMPLE" written on it, and the product version with the same specifications has not been confirmed.

This is only a reproduction/prototype, so it does not determine the age of the actual vintage item, but I think it is a valuable piece of material that allows you to feel the background of LVC Japan's prototyping and detail verification.

*Because it has been stored in a double-turn-up state for many years, there are fold wrinkles on the hem.
There is little damage to the fabric itself, and the chain stitch is not broken.
